The Methodist Church at Connexional level has encouraged circuits to consult with neighbouring circuits with regard to possible amalgamations as part of its ‘Mapping the Way Forward’ initiative.

In response to this, and with District encouragement, the Chester le Street and East Durham circuits have been involved in continuing conversations to discern the best way forward.

It has been decided to bring to the MarchCircuit Meeting (2nd March, Perkinsville) a proposal, in principle, of the amalgamation of the two circuits from September 2011.
Between the March meeting and the June Circuit meeting,  wide consultation will take place within each circuit, in order that people’s views can be expressed.

All are welcome to go along to these meetings (attendance at only one meeting is necessary):

Monday 12th April 7.30 pm - Chester-le-Street
Monday 26th April 2pm - Pelton (see plan for dates in the East Durham Circuit)
