Great Lumley Methodist Church receives carers award

June 18 2010
A framed certificate and an engraved glass paperweight were presented to the church at the Stadium of Light on Thursday 17 June 2010 in recognition of the work with people with learning disabilities.

Tom Sterling and Joanne Fearn attended to represent the church and receive the award from the Mayor and Mayoress of Sunderland.
The citation commended the church for it's support of the young people preparing to compete at the Special Olympics in Leicester in the summer of 2009. Mention was made of the welcome and availability of the church, the food that was laid on and the lack of pressure to 'conform'.
Special mention was also made of Heaven's Kitchen and the great food they provide.
The award will be displayed at the church for all to see.
Keep up to date with our work and ministry among those with learning disabilities in the areas of sport (specifically football) and accessible worship on this website.
